Solomon lay on the beach as if he didn't have a care in the world. This was of course entirely not true and he was lying on the beach precisely because all of his cares were piling up on him. He stared up at the empty sky and listened to the waves crash. He wanted to be his own man but that required him to be more independent, and that required money, and that required a way to make money. Not like that thing with Japan. That wasn't independent at all. And then there was the dolphin fiasco. As if everyone weren't mean enough.
He groaned and shifted his head in the sand. Even if I did, he thought to himself, everyone else is doing that whole claiming thing again. Even this depressed him since when everyone else was trying to figure out who to claim next nobody even came near him. He tried to reassure himself that once he was a real country they would take notice but this just depressed him more. He pulled his arm out of the trenchcoat sleeve and readjusted his swimming trunks before sliding it back in. He'd have to change out of them before they actually started to chafe.
Still, the sun was so nice and the air was so pleasant. It was clean, quiet, and most of all, lacked distractions.

While all other empires seemed to be hibernating over the holidays, Austria was on the alert. This was the perfect time to strike. The only other nation he had been able to detect was a group of islands, the Solomon Islands. As much as he disliked traveling, his boss had sent him out to meet this country for negotiations about a new world order. After being picked up from the airport with a cab, the aristocrat was taken to the beach where the young man had last been seen. Apparently Solomon had been arranged to meet someone, but if Austria was lucky he would get there first.
Sand everywhere. The musician was devastated. He wasn't at all suited for this kind of environment and he was paranoid that a crab or starfish could jump out at him at any moment. Glancing back and forth nervously he approached a figure lying in the sand. To announce his arrival he cleared his throat, since he didn't want to end up startling the apparently resting man.
"Excuse me. Servus. Are you the Solomon Islands?" [/size]

Solomon looked up at the sudden interruption. Had he been feeling less sluggish he might have even flinched at the surprise, but instead he simply opened his eyes halfway and stared at the person. They seemed familiar somehow, he had to wonder if he had seen this guy at the supermarket one day. "I am the Solomon Islands." He replied in the rather slow and plodding method of speech he spoke in. "Did you want to buy a dolphin?" He pulled open his coat further, revealing several dolphin pictures pinned inside it. Then he remembered what happened last time and shook his head slowly. "Never mind."
He pushed himself into a sitting position, still on top of his coat. In this position he got an even better look at the man. The main thing was that he was tall. Savannah pulled his arm from out of the coat and held it out to The visitor to shake, the coat fell back a bit and revealed the start of a few scars on Solomon's back. "I'm the Solomon Islands." He repeated, forgetting that he had already said it before. "Nice to meet you."

His first impression of Solomon was that this young man was a little... sluggish. The Austrian frowned a little. Would this person really be able to help him expand his empire? He didn't appear like someone with high motivation or passion for doing something.
Austria raised his brow as he was asked if he wishes to buy a dolphin. Those creatures seemed eerie and violent to him. He finally accepted the other male's hand in a handshake and cleared his throat to introduce himself.
"Servus. I am the New Austrian Empire. I have not come here to purchase marine life, but I wish to negotiate with you. I am hoping for your cooperation in expanding both of our territories, now that all other nations appear to have fallen into hibernation. Now is our chance. This kind of opportunity will not repeat itself in history."

Solomon slipped his arm back into the sleeve and stood up, careful to avoid stepping on or tripping over his long coat. This man was strange, and seemed, if not intelligent, then at least as if he had a plan. "Hello Austrian Empire, I am the Solomon Islands. Nice to meet you." This guy was fully fledged too. Not an up an coming nation like Solomon. His thoughts honed in on this. There might be a way to use this, after all, Austrian Empire actually said hello without tripping over me first. He thought to himself.
"So you aren't mad about the dolphins?" This was another good thing. People only seemed to notice him when they didn't like what he was doing and the dolphins certainly drew him into the poor lighting.
"I don't know if I can help you though. I'm not even a real country yet, and I've been having a lot of trouble with money lately since Japan left me, I'd need some help." There was a bigger list of problems, but it wouldn't do to seem too useless. A little backing and trading would do wonders for cleaning everything up and some support for being a real country would be a godsend.
