• Cooking;; As a child, Hong Kong loved to have his Ge Ge cook for him, but when England took him over as a colony, he had to learn to cook for himself. Ever since then, it's been one of his favorite pass times. Adding his own twists to Ge Ge's old recipes always calms his nerves.
  
• Kung Fu and other martial arts;; Whether he is actually practicing Kung Fu just watching the movies or two people sparring, Hong Kong always finds it entertaining. He loves studying the techniques of others, predicting the next blow and figuring out what went wrong in a fight, and then applying these concepts in his own fights.
  
• Pyrotechnics;; He loves detonating fireworks. He loves setting them up, lighting them, and watching them explode into all kinds of light shows.

• Being Tossed Around;; It seems to Hong Kong that ever since the first Opium War, he has been thrown from one country's possession to another without consent. It really is a bother.
  
• His Relations;; Particularly with England and China. He hates that China would pretty much ignore him until England wanted him and then just sign him away, and he hates England for taking him away from his ge ge and giving him opium to give to China, who became addicted to the drug. But, Hong Kong knows China is his brother, and therefore, will always love him, and England proved that he does care for him by fighting for him during WWII. As much as he doesn't care for either of them, he still loves them as a little brother.
  
• Bad Cooking;; After 156 years of England's cooking, he has become a bit of a gourmet and won't tolerate it if he knows he can make his own meals.

• 12th century - Hong Kong is a sparsely populated area dominated by the Five Clans – Hau, Tang, Liu, Man and Pang
  
• 1276 - The Song Dynasty retreats to Hong Kong from the mongol invasion. Defeated, the emperor drowns himself and his court officials in Hong Kong's waters.
  
• 14th century - Still empty and eventually losses contact with China's Imperial court.
  
• 1714 - The British East India Company establishes offices in Guangzhou. Britain immediately starts to import Opium, causing massive addiction to the drug in China.
  
• 1840 - The First Opium War begins
  
• 1841 - A peace treaty is signed, giving Britain the Island of Hong Kong, British troops land and a flag is raised in name of the Queen
  
• 1842 - The Treaty of Nanking is signed, making Hong Kong an official crown colony
  
• 1850 - The population is now 32,000
  
• 1856 - The second Opium War begins
  
• 1860 - 1860 – The Chinese find themselves on the losing side again and are forced to cede the Kowloon peninsula and Stonecutter’s Island to the British.
  
• 1898 - Britain forces more concessions from the failing Qing Dynasty, gaining a 99-year lease of the New Territories. This lease will end in 1997.
  
• 1941 - The Japanese invade Hong Kong, beginning four years of torture.
  
• 1945 - Hong Kong is given back to Britain after Japan surrenders to the allies.
  
• 1967 - As the cultural revolution grips China, Hong Kong is hit by riots and a bombing campaign orchestrated by left wingers. Locals mostly remain loyal to the colonial government.
  
• 1970's - China and Britain start to negotiate Hong Kong's status after the New Territory's 99-year lease runs out in 1997
  
• 1984 - It is announced that all of Hong Kong will be given back to China at midnight on June 30, 1997.
  
• 1988 - Announced that Hong Kong will become a part of China, but will govern itself for at least fifty years after the handover.
  
• 1997 - Hong Kong is handed over to China
  
• 2005 - Hong Kong Disneyland opens
  
• 2008 - Hong Kong's population reaches 7 million
