in this farewell

Male.
country;; the Republic of Estonia
apparent age;; 17
gender;;
appearance;; If you look, the only reason you may notice him is because of his above average height. He appears very stand-offish, as if he is entirely content in the background nervously adjusting his glasses that hide blue-green eyes every few moments and making sure his bowl-cut pale blonde hair is in place. He tries to stick with well to do apparel, because if you do notice him, he wants to make a good impression.
status;; victim

likes;;
- solitude;; He has never really had to be around many people and prefers it this way. The way he sees it is even other nations make mistakes nearly indistinguishably from humans and he'd rather pick and choose his company wiser than that.
- technology;; Technology has never failed him, and he's gained recognition in the past for having a natural knack at it. Technology is all based on logic, and he can relate to that better than passionate emotions.
- cooking;; Since his own cuisine is rather unique in Europe, he enjoys to cook whether it's Estonian food or anything else (his second favorite niche would be Swedish food), although his food is just about as desirable as it's Finnish counterpart. He's also fond of alcohol.
- independence;; Although it ties in to his solitary nature, he treasures and values it so much that he's been known to have a rebellious streak when it comes down to it. He doesn't submit easily, although these days, he's much more of a tactics first person.
dislike;;
- Non-intellectuals;; With his pointed interest in scientific aspects, he has the habit of disliking those who don't apply themselves to learn from the past's mistakes.
- quietness;; Despite liking solitude, he hates silence. Partially due to growing up around such large amounts of forest, so there was always some sort of noise, it doesn't matter to him whether it's the white noise hum of electronics or his own voice as long as it's there.
- those of Slavic ancestry;; It's much more pointed at a certain specific group, although partly out of fear you'll never get him to specifically say which. The years that he spent with the one group were definitely not the best of his life and it's left him with a deep veined spite.
- broken things;; If something doesn't work the exact way he wants it to, he can get rather upset whether he knows how to fix it or not.
strengths;;
- Quick to learn and intellectual. He's very tactical and thorough.
- Knowing how to judge when there's no logical way of coming out ahead.
- Frugal. Is used to having to ration and save things.
- Rarely ever at the forefront of things, taking a stand behind someone stronger more often than not.
- Faithful. When he believes and trusts in someone, he does for a very long time.
weakness;;
- His own (mostly lack of) physical strength. His eyes are the main thing, but he also has a weak stomach (low tolerance for gore).
- Easily disheartened from tasks at hand.
- Bit too dependent on the technology he's come to love.
- Lack of knowledge on actual fighting tactics and how to use weaponry; his knowledge of the latter is entirely based in scientific aspects and not combat.
- Couldn't exist entirely cut off from others due to distinctly small population and small amount of resources.
overall personality;; With his love of solitude and independence, he has a pretty heavy sense of self-preservation. Estonia isn't really one for conflicts, yet if he must be involved he'll most likely side with whoever can do the most for him. Due to not wanting to make anyone angry, his own anger shows mostly in passive aggressiveness, since he's against being outright rude to anyone no matter how they act. Despite everything, he wants to be able to rely on old political relations and bonds, although in current days, it's almost a lost cause.
Since he's barely had the chance to be independent throughout history, his individualism shows through with his sense of national pride. Preserving his own culture and language means a lot to him, so even if he has to do it behind the back whoever rules him, he will. His 'luck' is mostly his own intellect and quick wit that allows him to sidestep unfavorable situations.
The way he sees the world is he'd rather be existing at the side of someone he hates, rather than groveling on his knees in their shadow.
So let mercy come
and wash away
what I've done
and wash away
what I've done
Lithuania and Latvia to the rest of the world are in a way his 'brothers', so they're well-acquainted. He personally thinks of Finland and Hungary like his 'cousins' (albeit a bit distant) though, and the Finn is the closest thing to a best friend he has.
family;; none.
friends;;
time line;;

Estonia is described mostly afterward as a 'barren and desolate land'.

- 1918 - Independence is declared on February 24th, marking the first time in 699 years that Estonia is an independent country.
- 1918-1920 - Estonian War of Independence begins November 28th, 1918. With the help of Britain, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, they're able to fight off the Soviets and Estonia became the first country to repel the Soviet westward offensive. Estonia even takes in Latvian troops that are displaced by Russia taking them over.
- 1920 - Treaty of Tartu is signed between Russia and Estonia, making their declaration of independence two years prior entirely recognized. 701 years and Estonia is independent and neutral.
- 1940 - Estonia declares neutrality and wishes no part of the brewing world war, but falls under the Soviet sphere in the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and is occupied by the Soviet Union until 1941.
- 1941 - Invaded by Germany and declared a part of the Reichkommissariat Ostland.
- 1944 - Estonia's losses during the second World War are 25% of it's entire population. A significant portion of the adult population is lost to Soviet deportations, occupied by Soviet forces in September of 1944.
- 1990 - Estonia's name is changed from the Estonia Soviet Socialist Republic to the Republic of Estonia.
- 1991 - on August 20th, 1991, Estonia declares independence again.
- 1994 - Last of Russian troops withdraw from Estonia.
- 2004 - Estonia joins the European Union.
- 2011 - Adopts the Euro. (currently slated to begin January 1st, 2011.)
